Olof Söderberg (1872–1931) grew his father’s firm Söderberg & Haak, became managing director of Stora Kopparbergs and Fagersta mills, was active in the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce and co-founded the School of Economics in Stockholm.
Benito Peix Geldart, PhD historian and researcher at our Research Secretariat, has written a new biography about this business leader, industrialist and community builder.
With this new biography, Benito continues the story of the Söderberg family after his previous book about the father and steel pioneer Pelle Söderberg. Olof’s sons Torsten and Ragnar Söderberg would later develop the business further into what we know today as Ratos.
The books about the Söderberg family are the result of a multi-year research project here at the Centre for Business History, to document and analyze two key figures in commerce and industry during an important phase of Sweden’s modernization.
About all this, but above all the new book about Olof Söderberg, we’re holding a seminar on 9 November at 15.00-17.00 at the Stockholm School of Economics, Sveavägen 65, in (appropriately enough) lecture hall Torsten (named after Torsten Söderberg). The event is in Swedish.
After the seminar, we mingle around drinks and light snacks.
