Since many years now, telecom giant Ericsson keeps its corporate archive at the Centre for Business History in Stockholm. This has resulted in, among other things, the historical website The Ericsson History. Today, Ericsson uses its history both internally and externally as a tool for brand building and client acquisition.
Over 20 years ago, the Centre for Business History in Stockholm began collecting and managing Ericsson’s historical source material, turning it into a fully-fledged corporate archive. The oldest document is the main ledger from the years 1876-1882 which was kept personally by Lars-Magnus and his wife Hilda.
Ericsson’s communication department has continuously asked us to keep gathering texts, images and film that document the 125 years of history of Ericsson, both in Sweden and globally. This material has, among other places, found its way onto the English-language historical site ericssonhistory.com and the permanent history exhibition that Ericsson keeps in its Stockholm headquarters.
