Anniversary Seminar #2:
How do we know what we know? Archives as source of knowledge.

24 Apr 2024, at 15.00 - 17.00

Our second anniversary seminar, during our 50th anniversary, is about the role of archives for research and society – and about all the research that has been done in the archives we manage over five decades.

We explore concepts such as source criticism, fake history and other things that challenge ingrained notions in today’s media society.

Science journalist Tobias Svanelid leads the program with, among others, Ingrid Carlberg, member of the Swedish Academy; Karin Åström Iko, National Archivist and head of Swedish National Archives; historian Orsi Husz; and writer Anders Johnson.

You’ll also meet:

  • Martin Kragh, deputy director of the Stockholm Centre for Eastern European Studies (SCEEUS) and senior researcher at the Swedish Institute of International Affairs (UI), provides an up-to-date picture of the conditions for archives and research in today’s Russia.
  • Benito Peix Geldart, researcher at the Centre for Business History, present all the research that has been done in our members’ archives over 50 years.

In addition, we launch our Digital Reading Room, a new digital resource for web-based research right into our digital archives. Anders Sjöman, our communications manager, presents.

  • When: Wed 24 April, kl 15.00 – 17.00
  • Where: Centrum för Näringslivshistoria, Grindstuvägen 48–50, Bromma.
